Podcast photos

I was on a podcast recently and we discussed some cars that I had photos of before I got back into photography, so they aren’t able to be viewed anywhere until now. Adding them here so people can look at them if they choose to.

2024 Indy 8 Hour/2025 Season

This was my 2nd endurance event I’ve had the pleasure of attending. A 24 hour race is a must in the future. Only about 1 hour of darkness in this event with the current start time, not a lot of time to practice if you are new to night photography. If you want to check out an endurance race, this one isn’t a terrible choice.

I’m planning on an Indy 500 practice, Carb Day, Indy 500, and the Detroit Grand Prix so far for the year. This summer will be light on photos as I should be recovering from surgery, but I’ll probably attend more local dirt events if I can. Also, planning on making some videos for Indy and Detroit. I haven’t made videos in a very long time, but I’m excited to try something new. So keep an eye out for those in May and June!

The 108th Running of the Indianapolis 500

Here we are the day after the late evening finish to another memorable race. Every year I seem to just fall more in love with this event and this track. I was able to bring my mom to her 1st Indy 500 and she had a fantastic time. We’ll be back for the Brickyard 400 in July as well.

I love taking photos at these events but taking photos from the stands is so limiting here. Some venues allow for fantastic shots in non-credentialed areas. Hopefully I can make the transition to something more professional in the near future.

Indy 500 Qualifying

I’ve been going to the Indy 500 since the 100th running in 2016, barring the covid years. Haven’t had the pleasure of attending a qualification day until now. These are the fastest cars I have ever shot and it was a challenge to adjust. I really happy with the results. I should come with a new lens and go to a practice day next year.

2023 Race Weekend 5 – Waterford Hills

Can’t believe this took over 3 months to get to these photos. Waterford Hills is a regional road racing track here in Michigan. Typically where local drivers earn their competition license and a great place to learn how to become a track worker as well. Hopefully I can get back next year on track for even better locations and to get photos of the lovely volunteers that make racing events possible.

2023 AMA Vintage Days

I was fortunate enough to make time for my first motorcycle event this year. A friend of mine competes in the Motoamerica Twins Cup and also makes a stop at Mid-Ohio for the Vintage Days. So getting to this was a bit of a priority.

I’ve admired motorcycles for years, but haven’t taken the plunge into owning one. After this, I think it’s only a matter of time. Thanks to Alexander Steinhoff-Arnot and everyone involved with Möth Touch Racing for being great hosts while we were there.
